Secretary A. Ralph Mollis releases Third Quarter Data for New Business Entity Creations
Data from the Division of Business Services confirm that businesses continue to file at the same rate as last year
PROVIDENCE, RI – Nearly 1,725 new business entities registered with the Secretary of State's Business Services Division for third quarter, which runs between July 1st through September 30th, 2013.
From January 1 through September 30th, 2013 there were 5,540 new filings processed by the Business Services Division. That's up slightly from last year, which saw 5,525 new filings during the same period.
"The data confirms that we are maintaining, not losing new business entities in 2013, and that's a positive. Currently, we are recording about the same amount of filings as we did last year," said Mollis.
Most newly formed business entities in Rhode Island choose a corporate structure that requires registering with the Secretary of State. More than 60,000 limited liability companies and for-profit and non-profit corporations are currently registered.
The Secretary of State's Business Services Division also works with start-ups and oversees recording commercial liens, registering notaries public and protecting corporate trademarks.
