Ortiz powers Red Sox to ALDS Game 2 win

Posted: Updated:

David Ortiz homered twice and Jacoby Ellsbury scored three runs as the Red Sox beat the Rays, 7-4 Saturday to take a 2-0 series lead in the American League Division Series.

John Lackey threw 5 2/3 innings, surrendering four runs and got solid relief from Craig Breslow, Junichi Tazawa and Koji Uehara (save) to get the victory.  Breslow and Tazawa each got double plays to end Rays' rallies in the 7th and 8th innings.

Boston grabbed a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning off Rays lefty ace David Price on a Dustin Pedroia sac fly and the first of two Ortiz solo home runs.

Game 3 is set for Monday at 6pm in Tampa with Clay Buchholz set to take on Alex Cobb.
