Mayor Angel Taveras Invites Residents, Visitors to Providence for Family Weekend of Activities

Columbus Day weekend events to draw thousands to Capital City, boost local economy

PROVIDENCE, RI
– Mayor Angel Taveras is pleased to welcome the thousands of people expected to visit Providence this holiday weekend as the Capital City hosts a variety of family-friendly activities.

"From the Columbus Day Festival on Federal Hill to the Gloria Gemma Waterfire and Flames of Hope events, there is something for everyone to enjoy in Providence this weekend," said Mayor Taveras.

Friday, October 11, 2013
•         Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular at Roger Williams Park Zoo, 6 p.m. – 11 p.m.
•         Flames of Hope Opening Reception, Celebration Village at Station Park, 6:30 p.m.
•         Providence Bruins vs. Manchester Monarchs at the Dunkin' Donuts Center, 7:05 p.m.
•         Wilbury Group presents DETROIT by Lisa D'Amour, Southside Cultural Center, 7:30 p.m.
•         The Grapes of Wrath at Trinity Repertory Company, 7:30 p.m.
•         Bonnie "Prince" Billy at Columbus Theatre, 8 p.m.
