ALCS Game 3 - Red Sox nip Tigers

One swing and a huge effort from John Lackey and the bullpen is all it takes for the Red Sox to take ALCS Game 3, 1-0 in Detroit Tuesday.

Mike Napoli's solo home run in the seventh inning off Justin Verlander was the only offense in the game.  Lackey shined, striking out 8 in shutting the Tigers down over 6 2/3 innings.  The combination of Craig Breslow, Junichi Tazawa and Koji Uehara did the rest to lock down the victory that gives Boston a 2-1 lead in the American League Championship Series.

Tazawa struck out Miguel Cabrera with runners at first and third in the 8th. Uehara then came in to strike out Prince Fielder to end the threat.

Game 4 is Wednesday in Detroit with Jake Peavy taking on Doug Fister.

The game was interrupted for 17 minutes in the bottom of the second inning by a power outing that caused the lights to go out.
