Red Sox sign AJ Pierzynski

The Red Sox, according to various reports, have signed former Twins, White Sox, Giants and Rangers catcher AJ Pierzynski to a one-year contract.  CBS Sports' Jon Heyman was the first to report the news Tuesday morning.

With the signing of Pierzynski, it would appear that Jarrod Saltalamacchia is on his way out of Boston.  Saltalamacchia was not tendered a qualifying offer last month by the team.

Pierzynski hit .270 with 17 HR's and 70 RBI's in 134 games in 2013 with the Rangers.  ESPN's Buster Olney reports the deal is worth $8.25 million.
