Red Sox, Ortiz agree on one-year extension


Big Papi is still calling Boston his home for another season. 

The Red Sox and slugger David Ortiz have agreed on a one-year, $16 million contract extension Monday with a vesting option for 2016 and a team option of for 2016.

The vesting option for 2016 will be based upon 2015 season plate appearances while the team option for 2017 is set for $17M.

Ortiz was the MVP of the 2013 World Series in which he hit .688 as the Red Sox defeated the St.Louis Cardinals.
