Red Sox choose Sizemore over Bradley

The Red Sox have chosen their Opening Day centerfielder and his name is Grady Sizemore.  The move was announced Friday morning by manager John Farrell as the team also sent Jackie Bradley Jr. down to Pawtucket to start the season.

Sizemore, who's missed the past two seasons due to knee injuries, has hit .333 in Spring Training while Bradley has struggled with a .158 avg.

On Sizemore's absence the past two seasons, Farrell said: "This is a rarity. This speaks to his work ethic and his athleticism.  He's humble; He's taken this in stride & is extremely grateful for training staff."

As for Bradley, he said Friday morning: We all didn't see Jackie Bradley Jr. this spring training.  Back to work."

The Red Sox open defense of the 2013 World Series Championship Monday in Baltimore.
