P-BRUINS FALL TO THE FALCONS 2-3 IN GAME 3 OF THE 2014 CALDER CUP EASTERN CONFERENCE QUARTERFINALS
- The Providence Bruins were defeated by the Springfield Falcons Saturday in game 3 of the 2013-14 Calder Cup Eastern Conference Quarterfinals. The Falcons lead the best of 5 game series 2-1.
In the first period, the game stayed scoreless despite many quality scoring chances by the P-Bruins.
The P-Bruins were able to gain momentum throughout the period with strong and organized play.
Svedburg started the game off strong, making 10 solid saves.
In the second, the P-Bruins were able to strike first at the 10:27 minute mark when Matt Linblad
slipped the puck under the pad of Mike McKenna for his first post-season goal. Seth Griffith was
credited with the assist. At the 15:23 in the same frame the Falcons scored to tie the game at 1 when
Carter Camper got the puck past Svedburg, double-assisted by Ryan Craig, Darryl Boyce.
2:32 minutes into the third period, Springfield’s Jake Hansen scored to gain a 2-1 lead over the
P-Bruins. The goal was assisted by Lukas Sedlak and Matt Taormina. At the 17:25 minute mark, the
Falcons added to their lead when Dana Tyrell scored an unassited goal that got past Svedburg. Less
than a minute later at the 18:19 minute mark, the P-Bruins answered back, Linblad hammered in his
second goal of the game and of his post season career. However, it was not enough as the Falcons
defeated the P-Bruins by a final score of 2-3.
Svedberg blocked 42 of 44 shots while counterpart M. McKenna stopped 22 shots.
The P-Bruins return to the Dunkin’ Donuts Center for Game 4 of the 2014 Calder Cup Eastern Conference
Quarterfinals on Tuesday, April 29 at 7:05 p.m. If necessary, deciding Game 5 of the Eastern
Conference Quarterfinals will be held Saturday, May 3 at 7 p.m. at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center.
