NFL announces new penalties for domestic violence offenders

The NFL has announced new measures on domestic violence including new penalties for offenders.  In a letter to NFL owners today, the league said that any league personnel would be suspended 6 games for a 1st offense and a lifetime ban for a 2nd offense.

This comes in the wake of Ravens RB Ray Rice getting just a two-game suspension for his domestic violence incident with his then fiancee (now wife).   In the letter to the league's 32 owners, Commissioner Roger Goodell admitted "I didn't get it right" in regard to that suspension.

Under the new policy, players would be allowed to peition for reinstatement after one year if issued a lifetime ban.
