The Baltimore Ravens have released RB Ray Rice and the NFL has suspended Rice indefinitely after the release of a video by TMZ Sports Monday showing Rice punch his then fiancee and now wife, Janay Rice. Rice had previously been suspended two games by the NFL for the domestic violence incident.
In the aftermath of the initial suspension, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said "I got it wrong" and has seen put forth a stronger punishment for domestic violence offenders for all NFL personnel. First offense is now a six game suspension and a second offense brings forth a lifetime ban with reinstatement possible after one year.
The NFL has already announced that Rice will have to apply for reinstatement after his suspension is finished.
