Galaxy Blood Drive comes to Providence Public Library

GALAXY BLOOD DRIVE Coming to Providence Public Library Saturday, December 27

Donate Blood and Cast Your Vote: Stormtroopers vs. Klingons

PROVIDENCE, RI
– Providence Public Library (PPL) will welcome costumed fans of Star Wars and Star Trek on Saturday, December 27, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm who will be attending the Galaxy Blood Drive -- a family-friendly blood drive at the Library (150 Empire Street, Providence) to help save lives during the holiday season. The blood drive will take place in the Ship Room, 1st floor.

“The week between Christmas and New Year's Day is always a challenge for blood donation centers to bring in donors,” says Rhode Island Blood Center account manager Eric St. Peter, “and it's also a time of year when hospitals have a greater need for blood units.”

By giving blood at the event, fans of Star Wars and Star Trek can also cast their vote for their favorite franchise. “At last year's Galaxy Blood Drive, Star Wars won,” says Ryder Windham, an author of numerous Star Wars books, who has helped organize numerous blood drives. “But the competition aspect is all in good fun. The goal of the costumer clubs is to help the Rhode Island Blood Center save lives, and also to entertain children and their families at the Providence Public Library. It's a fun opportunity for everyone to visit the Library, and for a great cause.”
