The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) began reinstating service at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 2015. As of 11:45 a.m., all bus service has been restored. However, heavily accumulated snow in some areas and unplowed snow on secondary roads, may still make it difficult for RIPTA vehicles to travel safely. As a result, fourteen RIPTA bus routes are on detour; those routes are listed below. RIPTA will continue to restore service on routes as conditions allow. Passengers are encouraged to check www.RIPTA.com for updates throughout the day. Riders should expect some delays on all routes due to post-storm conditions and are advised to use extreme caution at bus stops.
RIPTA has been working closely with state emergency officials to determine how to best resume our service. The safety of our employees and passengers is RIPTA's top priority. RIPTA apologizes for the inconvenience and asks for the public's understanding as we work around the clock to resume service.
