Providence Public Library DON'T STOP THE MUSIC Presents BANDS ON THE BLOCK: A Collaboration between The American Band & The What Cheer Brigade (Street Concert) -- Saturday, May 9

PROVIDENCE, RI
– Providence Public Library (PPL) and DON'T STOP THE MUSIC! presenting sponsor Rosalyn Sinclair announce BANDS ON THE BLOCK: A street concert collaboration between The American Band and the What Cheer Brigade.  The event will take place on Saturday, May 9 at 12 Noon in front of the Library's 225 Washington Street entrance. (In case of rain, the event will be held indoors.)  This event is offered free as part of the PPL's three-month DON'T STOP THE MUSIC celebration of this history of music in Rhode Island.

MAY 9 EVENING PERFORMANCE

Later in the evening on May 9 (8 – 11 PM), the Library will be hosting a free music performance (Folk/Americana) with Chris Daltry of the 'Mericans along with Allysen Callery & John Faraone

The evening will be a record Release Show for Daltry.  Hear what Chris composed on his recent trip to New Orleans! Allysen Callery is an alternative folk artist.  Playing with a four-fingered & unique picking pattern, her vocal delivery recalls the haunting style of the late 60s early 70s British Folk Revival. John Faraone was recently nominated for Best Americana.

DON'T STOP THE MUSIC, multi-faceted exhibition and program series, began April 2 with the opening of the in-library exhibit entitled “From Pop to Punk: Highlights of 20th Century Music in Providence.”   The exhibit will run through June 30.  In addition, the Library has mounted a web site devoted to the music celebration at PROV.PUB/RIMUSIC (http://tech.pplspc.org/music/index.html).  Detailed program information, as well as continuing additions, can be found here throughout the three-month celebration.
