Raimondo remarks on latest RI unemployment rate

Governor Raimondo's Statement on Rhode Island's Unemployment Rate

PROVIDENCE, R.I
. - Governor Gina M. Raimondo today released the following statement on the announcement of the state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate.

"It is encouraging to see our unemployment rate continue to improve, but too many Rhode Islanders are still struggling and we need to do more to create jobs and expand opportunity. I am particularly concerned about the more than 1,200 jobs we've lost in the construction sector over the past three months. We must remain committed to doing everything we can to implement a comprehensive jobs plan focused on putting shovels in the ground, making it easier to do business in Rhode Island, and training workers. In fact, just last week, some potential partners with a track record of success submitted a new, preliminary proposal to build a more than one-million square foot development on the I-195 land. This concept, if it materializes, is exactly the type of bold, innovative activity we need to get our state moving again and spark a comeback."
