Providence Public Library Offers Summer Teen Tech Squad beginning July 8

Popular Summer Program Give Teens Hands-on Experience & Skills while Exploring Providence's Historic Music Venues

– Providence Public Library (PPL) welcomes teens in grades 7 through 12 to sign up for its free summer Teen Tech Squad program beginning Wednesday, July 8.  The program, titled “Music Venues Then and Now” will allow teens to explore historic Providence music venues and learn how to document their findings through still photography and video.  The program will run for six weeks, from 2 – 4 pm on Wednesdays through August 12 at the Library, 150 Empire Street, Providence. 

Throughout the program, PPL's librarians and technology staff will introduce teens to the Library's primary sources as well as concepts of historical documentation.  Teens will receive training on the use of an iPad for photography and videography, as well as go on field trips to area venues.  They will learn production methods and practice as they work to create of their own video/photo productions.
