Washington County Fair is back
49th Annual Washington County Fair
Entertainment for the entire family
One of Rhode Island's Greatest Traditions
Richmond, Ri. August 12-16, 2015 - The Washington County Pomona Grange presents the 49th annual Washington County Fair (WCF) located off of route 112 in Richmond, Rhode Island. Family fun and excitement for all ages with Fireworks kicking off the event on Wednesday night. The WCF is packed with competition and games, arts and crafts, great food, and the largest midway in Rhode Island (including NE's largest traveling roller coaster). Each night some of today's top country stars perform live in concert.
The WCF attracts over 100,000 people each year, making it the largest fair and largest agricultural event in Rhode Island.
The WCF is run solely by volunteers (it takes hundreds of volunteers to make this event possible each year). The fair educates and gives back to the community like no other of its kind. Chairman Dr. Clyde S. Fish explains that "the mission of the WCF is to promote a rural way of life, give families an affordable venue for family entertainment, and be the vehicle for non-profit organizations in the community to raise funds for their community service endeavors."
All of the food stands at the fair are not for profit vendors, and for most this is their most successful fundraising opportunity.
Serving "35 non-profit organizations... an approximate estimate would be that they raise about 300,000.00 dollars per year to put back into their community," Fish explains. "This means that in the 49 years of existence the Fair run by only volunteers has been the sight for these organizations to raise approximately 15,000,000.00 dollars in needed community service funds."
Tickets to this year's event will be available at various location from July 1 - August 12t and provides all day access to all shows, competitions, and concerts. Please visit website for locations
The WCF has rides for all ages. New this year on Thursday is country line dancing lessons. The WCF features Future Farmers of America (FFA) exhibits. Competitions held daily - Battle of the Fisherman, Pie eating contests, various pulling events, racing, and much more.
