Red Sox manager John Farrell has announced he has stage 1 lymphoma. He will start chemo next week. Torey Lovullo takes over managerial duties starting Friday night against Seattle and will be manager for the rest of the season.
Farrell, 53, said in his pregame press conference that the lymphoma was discovered when Farrell underwent hernia surgery on Monday in Detroit.
Doctors say that the lymphoma is localized and highly curable.
