Mayor Elorza Announces New Fall Recreation Program

Providence Fall Recreation Program Offers More Than 30 Programs for Residents of All Ages Beginning 10/13/15

PROVIDENCE, RI – Mayor Jorge Elorza Tuesday announced that the city will hold a Fall Recreation program beginning on Tuesday, October 13, 2015.

“Providence is offering a Fall Recreation program for the first time and it is full of exciting activities for residents of all ages,” said Mayor Elorza. “Offering a diverse range of recreation opportunities is a priority for my administration and I invite everyone to check our new recreation portal for programs that peak their interest and inspire them to be active.”

Fall Recreation options include more than 30 programs for residents of all ages. Youth programs include volleyball, kickball, karate, cheerleading, flag football, afterschool homework help, as well as arts, craft and nature programs. All events are offered to city residents free of charge.

Residents are encouraged to view the full lineup for offerings as well as times and locations for programs through the Recreation Department’s website and online scheduling tool at: https://apm.activecommunities.com/providence

A number of the programs offered are made possible through key community partnerships such as the Pedal Power bike safety programs, which is made possible by a partnership with Recycle-A-Bike, and Beat the Streets, a programs that promotes youth wrestling while providing mentorship and education assistance for its participants.

The Fall Recreation program follows one of the biggest and busiest Summer Recreation programs in recent years. Thousands of city youth took advantage of bigger-than-ever sports camps and brand new recreation offerings including museum camp, cheerleading camp and bicycle camp.
