Providence updates valuation process

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

PROVIDENCE, RI – The City of Providence has contracted with Vision Government Solutions, Inc. of Northborough, MA to develop and implement the State mandated valuation update.  The date of this reassessment will be December 31, 2015 and valuations will reflect the real estate market of 2015.  

The project will commence this fall with data collection of all properties that have outstanding building permits up to December 31, 2015. Additionally, the data collection of all those properties that were sold since January 1, 2015 will also be done later in the year.  All Vision employees will carry photo identification; a letter of introduction from the Assessor’s Office and be registered with the City’s Police Department.

Once the valuation work is completed in early 2016, residents will be notified of the new proposed assessments.  Individuals wishing to discuss their assessments with Vision Government Solutions will be able to schedule an informal review with Vision personnel in Providence.  Once the review process is complete, the new assessments will appear on the tax bills issued during the summer of 2016.
