Patriots trade Chandler Jones to Cardinal

The Patriots have traded DE Chandler Jones to the Arizona Cardinals for G Jonathan Cooper and a 2nd round pick, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Jones had one year left on his contract and led the team with 12.5 sacks in 2015.

Cooper was the 7th overall selection in the 2013 NFL Draft out of North Carolina and projected as very good guard prospect.  Cooper has had injury concerns the past two seasons (broken leg, toe, wrist, ribs).

With the trade, the Patriots will now pick #60 and #61 overall in the upcoming NFL Draft.

The Patriots will play Jones this upcoming regular season in Arizona.

Chandler Jones thanked the Patriots and the fans on Twitter.
