Patriots trade for Bears TE Bennett

Update (Thursday 12:25pm) - Both teams have announced the trade.  Here it is officially. 


The Patriots have traded for Bears TE Martellus Bennett Wednesday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Bennett, who's in the final year of his contract, will now be paired with TE Rob Gronkowski as a powerful duo in Tom Brady's offense.  The Patriots will reportedly be sending the Bears a fourth round draft pick while also receiving the Bears sixth round draft pick. 

Bennett, 29, was a Pro Bowler in 2014, has caught over 50 passes in each of the past four seasons including 53 passes for 439 yards and three touchdowns in 2015.
