Music legend Prince is dead at age 57. TMZ was first to report the tragic news Thursday.
The singer was found reported dead at his Minnesota home, Paisley Park, on Thursday morning when TMZ noted there was a unknown man who collapsed in the estate’s recording studio and was unresponsive. That man was later identified as Prince Rogers Nelson. He had recently been suffering from the flu. Authorities say that Prince was found unresponsive in an elevator when they arrived and paramedics couldn't revive him
Prince's publicist has now confirmed the TMZ report through the following statment:
“It is with profound sadness that I am confirming that the legendary, iconic performer, Prince Rogers Nelson, has died at his Paisley Park residence this morning at the age of 57. There are no further details as to the cause of death at this time.”
Prince, a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer (2004) and seven-time Grammy winner, is most remembered for the song, album and movie "Purple Rain" as well as hits like "When Doves Cry," "Little Red Corvette" and "Let's Go Crazy."
