“Fill-A-FORD” Food Drive at Local Ford Dealerships: June 21 – 30
PROVIDENCE, RI, June 2016 – New England Ford Dealers recently announced a partnership with the Ford Fund and Feeding America to help fight hunger across New England. As part of this effort, Ford has made a tremendous investment in the Rhode Island Community Food Bank and is now announcing a coordinated Rhode Island Ford dealer food drive in conjunction with the RICFB’s summer food drive.
From June 21 – 30, the general public is encouraged to bring nonperishable food items to their local Ford dealers in an effort to “Fill A Ford” with plenty of items to help those in need. Participating dealers include: Tasca Ford (Cranston) and two Flood Ford locations (East Greenwich & Narragansett).
Food drives are a wonderful way for people in the local communities to provide food for individuals and families living throughout Rhode Island.
Did you know that 1 in 8 Rhode Island households lacks adequate food? The Rhode Island Community Food Bank serves 60,000 people each month and distributed 9.7 million pounds of food in 2015.
Food insecurity greatly affects some of our most vulnerable citizens - Thirty three percent of those served are under 18. The health of children suffers when they have limited access to adequate, nutritious food and chronic hunger in children contributes to health, developmental, educational, workforce and job-readiness problems.
Most needed items:
- Canned / dried beans
- Canned soups and stews
- Whole wheat pasta
- Breakfast cereals
- Canned fruits and vegetables
- Canned tuna
- Peanut Butter
