Downtown Summer BBQ Raises over $150K for Ronald McDonald House of Providence; Expansion Campaign Nearly Complete
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Hundreds of local Rhode Islanders enjoyed a beautiful afternoon in downtown Providence last month, while raising more than $150,000 for Ronald McDonald House of Providence.
Ronald McDonald House of Providence – a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing comfort, compassion and a nurturing home for families with sick children – held a first-of-its-kind summer fundraising event in June to help underwrite the cost of family stays and allow the organization to welcome additional families.
In addition to serving as a fundraiser, the “Backyard Barbecue” at Ronald McDonald House of Providence on Gay Street was a celebration of the “Always Room at the House” campaign – an effort to add an additional 10 bedrooms to the Providence facility, allows the House to annually serve approximately 130 additional families.
“The support our Rhode Island neighbors show us never fails to amaze, and we feel so fortunate to serve such a kind, welcoming community,” said Michael Fantom, CEO, Ronald McDonald House of Providence. “We’re thrilled that our campaign to expand our local facility and serve more families in need is nearly complete, and we sincerely thank all of our friends and supporters for helping to make this expansion happen.”
So far, the “Always Room at the House” campaign has raised $4.88 million.
This project has been supported by generous donations from Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern New England, The Champlin Foundations, Rhode Island District Lions, McLaughlin & Moran, Cardi’s Furniture, Shriners of Rhode Island, Suzanne & Terrence Murray & the Murray Family Charitable Foundation, Malcolm G. Chace Jr. Family, The Edward J. & Virginia M. Routhier Foundation, Mr. & Mrs. Thomas & Cathy Ryan, The Providence Journal Charitable Legacy Fund, The Provenzano Family, Bob & Mary Higgins, Navigant Credit Union, Gilbane and many more.
