The CW primetime show news from the TCA

The CW Network's Mark Pedowitz met with The TV Critics Association Thursday.  Here's a few nuggets for the upcoming season: 

  • Flash, Arrow, Supernatural and Supergirl will all have 22 episodes; Reign will have 16 while most others have 13. 
  • CrazyExGirlfriend will have 13 episodes for its sophomore season. 
  • Pedowitz predicts #Supergirl will be either the network's #1 or #2 show this season. 
  • Pedowitz confirms that #iZombie will be 13 episodes this season. 
  • The Ray, according to The CW, is the 1st gay lead of a superhero TV show, ever; based on Grant Morrison's take from comics Freedom Fighters: The Ray is coming to CW Seed in 2017. 
  • "We thought Legends did not perform as well as it could have," said Pedowitz, who added that they will course correct it for season 2. 
  • Flashpoint is "only for a couple of episodes" on The Flash, says Pedowitz, "before it comes back in" 
  • Talks are underway to bring Nina Dobrev be back on Vampire Diaries for the final season. Pedowitz: "There are decisions going on with Nina. We’d love to have her back."

  • Kevin Smith is directing an episode of Supergirl and an episode of The Flash next season
