Capellan to step down as Providence Democratic City Committee Chairman
PROVIDENCE DEMOCRATIC CITY COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN VICTOR CAPELLAN PLANS TO STEP DOWN
The Providence Democratic City Committee has announced that Chairman Victor Capellan plans to step down at the end of the month. Capellan has served as chair of the city committee since January 2014. He previously served as Vice Chairman from 2010 to 2014.
"Today, I submitted my resignation as Chair of the Democratic City Committee. It has been a true honor and privilege to serve Providence in this capacity, but I have chosen to step down to spend more time focusing on my position as Superintendent of Central Falls. I am very grateful to Mayor Elorza for his support and friendship, and I look forward to continue working with him in future endeavors." "Victor Capellan has been an incredible leader and advocate for our City, and I am thankful for his time and service" said Mayor Elorza. He continued: "Providence is lucky to have him as one of its most enthusiastic champions."
Capellan’s replacement will be elected at the next regularly scheduled quarterly meeting of the democratic committee.
