Providence’s 3-1-1 Service Completes 10,000 Cases

PVD311 App & Hotline make it Easy for Local Organizations to Get Involved 

PROVIDENCE, RI – Mayor Jorge O. Elorza Thursday joined city department directors, staff from the Mayor’s Center for City Services, and DORCAS International Institute of Rhode Island’s Community Relations Manager Brandon Lozeau, to celebrate the ten thousandth completed case with the city’s PVD311 service, showing residents and organizations that the hotline and mobile app are easy to use and responsive in completing city service requests.  

“This exciting milestone is a result of our strong focus on providing residents and businesses the responsive and high quality city services they deserve,” said Mayor Elorza. “I thank city staff across departments for their commitment to ensuring Providence is a city that works for all. I also encourage those interested in learning more about PVD311 to connect with us, because this is a system that every resident should use.”

Since launching in March 2016, the collaboration of the Center for City Services and various departments has resulted in the improvement of hundreds of streets signs, a proactive approach to supporting issues related to abandoned vehicles and properties, and the removal of 1,000 pieces of graffiti across the city. 

Efforts to continue to raise awareness of the PVD311 system include an outreach campaign to educate local groups, organizations, and neighborhood associations about the service; a rebranding of bumper stickers that will placed on all city vehicles encouraging citizens to connect to PVD311; and a partnership with the Providence Public School Department to route all service requests to the system.

In addition to the 3-1-1 hotline, the PVD311 mobile application is available to download now on iOS through the Apple App Store and for Android on Google Play. The app offers a simple user friendly interface and access to a range of city and state services. The City of Providence also offers 24-hour online assistance at http://providenceri.com/pvd311.
