Mayor Elorza Nominates Hamilton as License Administrator

Nomination Pending Council Approval   

PROVIDENCE, RI – Mayor Jorge O. Elorza Thursday announced the nomination of Tashi Hamilton as License Administrator/Registrar of Vital Statistics. Hamilton’s nomination must be approved by members of the City Council before she takes on the role.

“Tashi has an outstanding professional record with ample experience in management, finance, and customer service which make her the ideal candidate to lead the Office of Board of Licenses, “  Said Mayor Elorza. “I’m excited to welcome her and know that her expertise will be crucial in my administration’s efforts to provide residents and businesses with the best quality city services possible.”

Hamilton, a financial and management professional, worked for East Cambridge Savings Bank before serving as a Fund Accountant and then Pricing Specialist for State Street Corporation. Most recently she served as a Financial Assistant at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She will be relocating to Providence to take on the duties of License Administrator.

Hamilton earned an Associates of Applied Science in Business Management from Bunker Hill Community College and is completing a Bachelor of Science in Business Management at Lesley University. She possesses a Project Management Certification from the University of Massachusetts Boston and a certificate for Financial Operations from Year UP, an organization for which she serves as an Alumni Board member and Class Ambassador.

In her dual role, Hamilton will be the department head and will manage daily operations in the Office of the Board of Licenses. Other duties include ensuring that license application procedures maintain compliance with applicable laws, coordinating the operation of the Office of the Board of Licenses with other city departments, and preparing the Board for matters which may appear on the agenda. The administrator is also responsible for the oversight and management of all records of births, deaths, and marriages occurring in the City.
