PROVIDENCE, RI
-- Providence Public Library presents authors Tom Shaker and Dennis Pratt to talk about their new book A Treasury of Rhode Island Jazz & Swing Musicians on Wednesday, June 14 from 6:30 – 8:00 pm in the Library’s Meeting Room, 3rd Floor, 150 Empire Street, Providence.  The program is free and open.  Book sale and signing will follow.

They wowed us with film clips of their documentary on The Celebrity Club – now hear what they have discovered about the jazz scene in Rhode Island over the past 75 years!  From Providence’s legendary Celebrity Club, the first interracial night club in New England, to the renowned Monday night Big Band jazz gigs that began with Duke Belaire and continue today with John Allmark, A Treasury of Rhode Island Jazz & Swing Musicians will delight the jazz lover in all of us, whether you’re from Rhode Island or not.
