Price headed to disabled list
The Red Sox drama with pitcher David Price took another turn Friday morning. Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports that Price will go on the disabled list with a recurring injury (inflammation) to his left elbow, the same injury that caused him to start the year on the disabled list. Price, who was scheduled to start Friday night at Fenway Park against the Royals, has been under fire for his verbal attack against NESN broadcaster Dennis Eckersely on the team's flight earlier this month.
Dan Shaughnessy of the Boston Globe first brought up the topic of Price's elbow injury Friday morning.
Hearing now that David Price's elbow barking again. Would Sox DL him before tonight's start? Plot thickens.— Dan Shaughnessy (@Dan_Shaughnessy) July 28, 2017
LHP Robby Scott will take Price's spot on the roster while Rick Porcello, Eduardo Rodriguez and Drew Pomeranz all get moved up a day to pitch this weekend against the Royals. All three will be on normal day's rest due to Thursday's off day.
INF Eduardo Nunez, acquired Tuesday from the Giants, is now on the active roster. INF Deven Marrero is optioned to Pawtucket.
